10 Years of the attempt - By Joed

The World Trade Center

The magnificent buildings that graced the skyline were built in New York City. They were both finished in different years; at first, there were just going to be one building, but in 1962, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey started to work with Yamasaki, who insisted that instead of one tower, tow would be more attractive, and the project was approved in 1966. The construction of the north tower had stared before and was finished in December 1970, mean while the south tower had began construction afterward and finished in January 1972.  The Twin Tower began to turn heads to there direction, they quickly became New York’s symbol. In 1973 they dedicated the towers to New York.

Sadly, the twin towers are no more standing, because of the attack on September 11, where terrorist intentionally crashed two planes into the twin towers, which collapse in tow hours, 3,000 people were killed in the attack. This brought damage to the economy and five streets were closed for the cleanup witch finished in May 2002. while the cleanup was in process, were the tow tower used to stand, were construct light and a waterfall of remembrance of the tow and the deaths of the ones in the attack. In the tenth years anniversary for the fist time the light were on, until the next day.

In 2002, a contest was held for the reconstruction of the tower. After 5,000 entries past by, finally, The Lower Manhattan Development Corporation announced in Jan. 2004 that architects Michael Arad and Peter Walker had won a competition to design the memorial to the people who died at the World Trade Center.the construction is taught to be finished in 2015.

The Three Kings- By Joed

The Three Kings

The Three Kings are a tradition here in Puerto Rico and many other Latin American states. It is a day when they celebrate the arrival of The Three Kings to the place Jesus Christ was born, which they we’re guided by a bright star called, “The Star Of Belen”. This star can be seen between the times of December until the beginning of January. It is a beautiful and bright star; this star is seen beside the moon. Theirs a legend that says that when the Three Kings all died, three stars formed in the sky, one behind the other. The Three Kings gave baby Jesus gift,
gold, incense and myrrh, which each one of the three, means something:

Gold- Each gift represents something; in the time of Christ, in Egypt the gold was considered to be not only the most precious stone around but it was used for medicine.
Incense-The incense is use to take away the bad vibes.
Myrrh- And the myrrh is to heal anything and anyone. The gift given to him, represented in a way Jesus Christ.

Here in Puerto Rico we celebrate the day of The Three Kings this way:

The night before we get a bowl of water and some grass for the camels, and we put our names on them and then we put them under our bed.

These traditions we give each other thing and that is how we celebrate the arrival of The three Kings.

Puerto Rico :Christmas festivities begin from the day after Thanksgiving Day (November) and culminate in February, in celebration of the candelaria. It is also remarkable that in many parts of Europe and America there is a growing trend, driven primarily from local parishes, to regain the religious meaning of Christmas and its true meaning.

United States: Christmas is celebrated in various forms: the snow, Santa Claus, Christmas songs and meeting family.

Europe:Christmas is celebrated in many ways. And one of the most common is the Kings day.

Christmas is my most favourite time of year I celebrate and I like very much. It is a time of reflection and family reunion filled with peace and harmony. Puerto Rico Christmas, the pig, is the most representative of the country cuisine. When celebrated Christmas there is Union, peace, respect and reverence for our Creator. Imagine if there was no Christmas.

Merry Christmas and happy new year.
