100 years of the Titanic - By Joed mm

Under the water's the Atlantic ocean lies one of the largest and most luxurious boats in all times: Titanic.

The RMS Titanic (in english: Royal Mail Steamship Titanic) was a second of a trio of Olympic class liners calls.  The Titanic was in its time the largest passenger ship and luxurious in the world, followed by the RMS Olympic.

On April 10, 1912, the Titanic began its maiden voyage departing from Southampton (England) bound for Cherbourg, Queenstown, and finally to New York. Four days later, at 23:40 April 14, the ship struck an iceberg south of the coast of Newfoundland, and sank at 2:20 am on April 15. The incident resulted in the deaths of 1,517 people, and at that time became the worst maritime disaster in time of peace.

The Titanic was designed using some of the most advanced technology available at that time, such as watertight bulkheads dividing the hull into 17 separate sections and believed they could keep it afloat in case of breakage of a part of town, this made the Titanic was considered "unsinkable" by the press then. Was equipped with a powerful telegraph station and a newly designed three-bladed propeller. The Titanic was more luxurious than the RMS Olympic and further its rival Cunard and the standard in this regard were not compared with first-class amenities in luxury is concerned.

This is the direction that the Titanic was to get to New York. The Titanic stopped at Cherbourg (France) to embark more passengers, and the next day called at Queenstown (Ireland), which sailed steerage passengers and mail. Among the first, second and third class, had a total of 2,227 passengers, who enjoyed a beautiful floating palace with luxurious dining rooms, indoor pool, library, gym, outdoor lighting at all hours and Turkish baths.

     Officers

The main crew of the Titanic were:
  •  Captain - Edward John Smith, famous for being the captain of the Titanic.
  •  Chief Officer - Henry Wilde
  •  First Officer - William Murdoch (originally assigned as chief officers)
  •  Second Officer - Charles Lightoller
  •  Third officer - Herbert Pitman
  •  Fourth official - Joseph Boxhall
  •  Fifth officer - Harold Lowe
  •  Sixth officer - James Paul Moody

The famous orchestra of the Titanic

One of the most famous legends of the Titanic is on his band. During the sinking, the eight members of the band led by Wallace Hartley, were in the first class lounge in an attempt to make passengers calm and not lose hope. He later continued playing in the stern of the boat deck. The band never stopped playing even when he was sure the ship would sink, and played until the last second of life.

The Titanic, from its collapse 100 years ago, left many unresolved.  It's amazing how they said that the ship can not sink, and after 5 days, that thought was lost at sea.  In the sun today are saying to construct a second Titanic more or less like the original and are already mentioning the mentioning:'' This might be unsinkable.''   And if that were not enough, now has a date of passage.  When the Titanic sank, generated controversy, mystery, sadness, misunderstandings and movies. The Titanic is and will remain a legend that will never forget.
